Bookmaker Bills odds
Simon Dreyer EVENS Lets all hope he gets through the first round at M & Bs because he will be VERY HARD TO BEAT.
Faye Montgomery EVENS She has had a great year and is rightly one of the favourites. WHO CAN BEAT HER?
Tony Toal 2 - 1 Steady all the way and will not be fazed.
John Bishop 2 - 1 Has already taken the bookie to the cleaners this year. Likely to do it again.
Bill Davenport 3 - 1 Will compete but I suspect under pressure will yield to the home bowlers superior green knowledge.
Rob Dreyer 3 - 1 A very good bowler on his day. Will it be his day?
Simon West 3 - 1 After a relatively poor season for him he should not be in the betting. But you know in my bones, I think he is going to win it.
Jimmy Orr 4 - 1 Jimmy will be out to stuff someone. I just hope its not me!
Albert Ashford 4 - 1 You will not get a better team player. Can he go through the field I think he just might.
Kate Fall 6 - 1
Val Dreyer 6 - 1
Richard Brannon 6 - 1
Ian Dutton 6 - 1
Rob Fall 6 - 1
Keith Richards 6 - 1
Mike Thompson 6 - 1
You will have come to the conclusion by now that the bookie has not got a clue what he is talking about and you would be right!
BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE

New team for 2011 ?
A few of our 'senior' members have expressed an interest in entering a team in the East Birmingham over-60s league next season.
Before that we need to be sure we have enough interest to field a team and fulfil our fixtures.
League matches comprise six players (mixed) and are played on Wednesday mornings (11am).
Can anyone who is interested please contact Rob Dreher who has all ready armed with a few names.

John Antcliffe - sad news (28th Jan 2011)
One of our founder bowls members, John Antcliff, died recently. A few members attended his funeral in Torquay and got talking to his son Stuart, who bowls for the Glasscutters in the Black Country. He suggested playing an annual memorial competition between the clubs John was involved with that are still going and has posted the message below on the Talkingbowls site
.With the help of several people from the Glasscutters, The Pheasant and Woodbourne Sports, we shall be organising a memorial competition. Nick Gritton is in the process of sourcing a special trophy. With the help of Don Freeman, Alan Hemming, Eddie Lowe, Rob Dreher, Brian Mansell to name but a few, we intend on running it on August bank holiday weekend. More than likely the Monday as that used to be the day the 'Phes' ran thier popular doubles comp in years gone by.
Date is not yet set in stone and no format has been decided on but we do intend on staging it alternativley between clubs each year. and all club members are welcome to enter.
Double's or even a triples team event has been mentioned.
Any input of competition format is welcomed????

Reminder to all members. The forthcomng season is nearly upon us, in readiness for this the AGM will be held at the social club at 7:30pm
Situation still vacant
Further to a previous note. Good news, bad news. As Some of you may know Faye has accepted an offer she could not refuse to become club treasurer - The club would like to thank Faye very much. But as yet nobody has volunteered to fill the position of Bowls secretary. this is now becoming very urgent. Volunteer needed urgently!

Situations Vacant - Club Secretary / Club Treasurer
Both Brian and Barbara have for the last number of years have been attempting to stand down - This year they will. In past years, they have agreed to do "one more year" - not so any more.
The club urgently need a new secretary in place before the AGM. We all know that at AGMs no ever comes forward. A sobering thought, without a secretary the club would not be able to operate. So please, there must be someone out there who could take over this role.
We think that we have a volunteer to replace Barbara the club treasurer.
All who are interested please contact me or any of the committee ASAP.
May I take this opportunity to thank both Brian and Barbara for the sterling service to the club.

Champions and promotion for Saturday Parks team
Well done to all Woodbourne players in the Birmingham parks league, A final victory at Land rover confirned us as Champions at first attempt. A mainly scratch team powered their way to top of the division with only two losses all season. Next year should be tougher? A big thanks to Pete must be noted, who has been the main instigator for setting up and running the team.
July 24th 2010 Saturday Bowls doubles
Well done to Brian Mansell & Albert Ashford, after a long day they were the team with the most stamina (and skill?) managing to beat Roy Clarke & Rob Dreher in the final. The day also help swell the club coffers - A very sucessful day. Thanks for al those who turned up, All food donations much appreciated. a similar event is planned for next year.
