Nov 15 - A few words from Capt CourtBarbara and I attended Birmingham South & West Presentation at Kings Norton Bowls Club at lunchtime for the presentation lunch.
The food was a buffet and very enjoyable. They started the presentations with the lowest division first with a certificate and shield for the first three teams . Courties Heros came second so I was second up to receive our prize, probably to the amazement of most people there. All in all it was a pleasant two hours and I am very proud of our team. Who knows what we can acheive now, watch this space. Cheers for now.- Phil Thanks for info Phil & well done - Keith |

Not bad for a bunch of old critters, or something like that.
Today Jo Dibble's team won our last game beating Moorpool A 108 to 103. A good year all round. Phil & Jo.

League tables confirm that Moor Lane did not manage to get the required number of winners to keep Woodbourne from being promoted as CHAMPIONS. Click here to see the table.
Sept 16th More cup winners
Woodbourne's season of success continued with victory in the EBOS Junior Cup final.
We took on Goldieslie A @ Ward End Social and thought we would be in for a tough game as our opponents finished top of Division Four, losing just two matches all season.
In the event, we ran out comfortable winners - 119-86 - though most of the games were a lot closer than the scores would suggest.
This win completed a double, as we had already won Division Six by a country mile.
I must thank all the supporters who turned up to cheer us on.
Well done everyone.

Big up for Woodbourne girls who beat Ye Olde Knowle at Kings Norton. The Tuesday Ladies "A" team lifted the South Birmingham Ladies Consolation Cup in a nail-biting match at Kings Norton BC.
Three winners in the first four gave Woodbourne a 14-shot advantage going into the second half, but Knowle hit back with three winners of their own in the second four to narrow the margin.
Jenny Mason was last on the green and she did just enough by getting to 19 to seal the win by 140 shots to 139.
Well done ladies. Another trophy for the Woodbourne cabinet this season.

John Antcliffe triangular match on 26th Aug 2013
As I'm sure most of you are aware but it is Woodbourne's turn to hold the above event this year.
We are hoping the sun will continue to shine and we can make it a really enjoyable day.
Everyone is welcome to come and take part. We're aiming to start at 11am.
We shall be holding a raffle and doing a BBQ along with tea, coffee and cakes so if you can come and help that would be great and if you have any prizes for the raffle or would like to donate a cake then fantastic.
We hope to see you all on Monday.
Kind regards
Kate

Bill wins again!
Congratulations to Bill who wins this competion for the third consecutive year. For photos please click here
Billy D’s Bookies Favourites for Club Championship
The club championship is nearly upon us and it’s time for the bookies odds. The book is famous for not taking just one single bet in its three year history. Remember The bookie cannot win if the book loses Bill foots the cost if the book wins then those winnings will go into club funds so why not break the mould and put a pound or two on yourself or whoever you think is a good bet its fun and the club is the winner.
1. Faye Montgomery. If she throws her hat into the ring on Saturday then there is no doubt she is the one to beat. She has been winning competitions for fun and knows the green inside out. Odds 2-1
2. Simon Dreyer. This guy is always my favourite can play a short game as good as anyone in the league let alone the club and there’s not much wrong with his long game either. Odds 2-1
3. Bill Davenport. Winner of this competition for the last two years but things rarely come along in three’s so unlikely to figure. But then again. Odds 3-1
4. Tony Toal. On his day as good a player as we have at Woodbourne and of course he has the added advantage of playing about 80 hours a week. One to watch. Odds 4-1
5. John Bishop. Riding high at the moment with a plus of in excess of 100 in the strong Wednesday Mid Week league and looking to secure the league averages so he will be up for it. Would be much higher in the rankings but did not figure in the last two years but someone else can have him for the first game. Odds 4-1
6. Kate Fall. Her sisters favourite for the competition so who’s arguing. Without doubt one of the most improved bowlers in the club over the last three years so perhaps this is the year she nails it. We shall see. Odds 4-1
7. Jimmy Orr. Awesome can strike fear in all of us when he gets going but has to keep it up all day. If its enthusiasm that can win you through then its game over for all of us. Odds 5-1
8. Albert Ashford. If Kate is the most improve bowler over the last three years then Ash has to be the most improved bowler this year. He can win it but does he really want to deep down where it hurts.Odds 6-1
9. Keith Richards. Already taken top quality scalp in the handicap championship so watch out anyone who gets him on the day.
Odds 7-1
10. Rob Fall. I have never played in a club championship yet when there was not a surprise package remember Ade 2011 swept his way through to the final. This could be Rob’s year he has established himself into the Saturday team and its time he proved what a good player he can be. My dark horse. Odds 7-1
No disrespect for any other players not included above but remember all the entrants will be home players capable on their day of putting out any of the above so grab yourself a bargain. Odds 8-1

Sat 27th AprToday was a first for the club. A team competed in our first Business House league. This team is 10 a side and despite a pre match hailstorm the game went ahead to produce 10 winners for the Woodies - Well done all, a resounding win (210-100). RG & RF shared the sweep but decided to have a "bowl off" to decide who kept all the spoils. RG won the money.

Saturday 30th MarchA pre-season round robin tournament was organised for the few members that braved yet another cold day. A small snow shower greeting the first few groups of players as play started around 2:30. With only 11 players registering themselves to play a draw was made to see who played in each group of 4. Group winners Bill, Simon D, Kate and Tony went on to decide the eventual winner. Simon D took the big money while Bill took the second prize.

Team and or club photos required !
There have been several comments about some of the "club" photos on the site. The ones that are currently being used (especially at top of some pages) are way out of date. Keith will happily attempt to capture as many teams during the season, but would need help someone with a digital camera to help him attempt to catch those, that he will no doubt miss. Please forward any photos to Keith.
