A question for Keith on the web site design. When I log into the web site.I note for example that it has been updated 23 minutes ago for example how does anyone you know if any thing has been added.I notice "no blogs" for example. But if you had information on the green for example would that also appear as a blog in which case I assume we would have "1 Blog" That being the case where would it appear on the web site or would we have to trawl through to find it.Sorry to be a pain but it might assist me in using the web site, and if I leave it until I see you I will forget what it was I was going to ask.
Ref your recent web question

Am having trouble finding out where the last update time is – and did not know it existed – please can you enlighten me ?
At the moment, it does not matter whether a new blog, or calender item, or anything on any page is altered, trawling the pages is the only option available (I guess most web pages are like this ?). However there is something called “RSS” which is a direct link, usually to a designated inbox in your Email address. This is supposed to notify users of any changes to a specified web page. I will see if this tool is compatible with the current software that is being used.
Hope that helped !
I thought the photographs of the work being carried out on the green most interesting. Its great to have a web site that can be so informative. It keeps us all in touch with events.
Great photographs of the green work, looks like a lot of work being put into it.Well done to all concerned, keep up the good work Keith.
Hi folks, I'm back!!!!
I have been approached by the organiser of a Saturday morning indoor bowling league at the Solihull Indoor Arena in Widney Lane. They need another team to make the league viable.
Matches are played to indoor rules with four players in the team, one of the four has to be a female or male, no single sex teams. Matches are over 18 ends, each player has two bowls and a game takes just under three hours on average. To be able to put a team out every week a squad of 6/8 are needed, with at least two being female or male.
Bowls can be loaned free of charge and it costs £3.00 per person, per game, plus you do not have to join the Solihull club.
Flat shoes, grey trousers or skirt and white top are the dress requirments.
The season starts about the middle of November and continues through to end of March, with a good break during Christmas and New Year.
The winning team receives £250.00, 2nd team £150.00 and £100.00 for third place.
At the moment there are teams from flat clubs plus Wythall and Ye Olde Knowle entered and I think it would be good for Woodbourne to enter a team and keep the arm and brain moving during the winter months, I'm up for it, any more takers, I need to know by Sunday 23rd October so that the fixtures can be worked on. Ring me on 01564 826611 if interested and if we have enough to make a go of it I will organise a training session.
I have arranged for a practice session at the Solihull Indoor arena off Widney Lane, for Saturday 29th October at 10.00am start.
Anyone interested is welcome to attend as I have two rinks booked, the cost is £3.00 each for two hours, indoor bowls supplied. Let me know if coming along on 01564 826611.
Base of shoes must be smooth (no ribs)and grey trousers, white tops.
The league starts on 19th November, with the first match against the local club, Brick Kiln.
Well the first of our indoor matches has taken place and although we did not win, it was very competitive right up till the 17th of the 18 ends. In fact on end 15 we were 2 shots up.
Next match against Wthall B next Saturday and I should like to try someone new in the team to gain experience, as over over 2.5 hours of bowling it becomes an all new ball game
in concentration and stamina.
After this weeks game (26-11) we have two in December.
Please ring me on 01564 826611 if interested in playing.
Disappointing to lose after leading with two ends left, but it was enjoyable.
Couldn't believe how quick the surface was and it caught a few of us out early on.
Looking forward to the next match (if selected).
Hello Keith why is it when I send a message it goes into Archives the last time I did this was reference the AGM that went straight into Archives now I post my comments on our excellent away win at Boldmere and that goes the same way. Please can you check this out I think the web site is an excellent form of communication between the members but it would be easy to get upset if you thought your comments were being ignored.
Saturday Seniors @ B.S,S.

I thought Saturdays away win was an excellent team result, starting with the first four who gave the team a 30 ish lead to the midle four who held it all together followd by the last four who had all the pressure to hold onto our lead and Boldmere had some good players in that session.I thought Bish did a really good job and of of course lilly who has been out of form of late and started in that mode in the early part of his game only to turn it around to play some good bowls and was unlucky not to win as was Nylon. No one in the team got single figures which is what you require to win away. A battling performance it was a pleasure to be part of that team. We should now have the confidence to build on that and win away again to secure promotion.Three awy wins should do it.
Well said Bill..as in my case on saturday even loosers can win games!!!!! and to pick up the odd extra shots make all the difference keep up all the good work Woodies.
Just to congratulate the Wednesday 'A' team for a good performence at Hall Green to win by 13 shots.
This puts us in a good position against our nearest rivals the Baldwin and with six games to go, if we could pick up one or two more away wins we should win the league. As of now we have only lost one game by ten shots to Wythall and we are also in the semi-final of the Senior Cup. Keep up the good work.
How on earth do we get to put info onto the club's site?
It used to work well, but it now appears to have changed without letting members access it properly.
I wish to make it known that the Wednesday evening 'A' team have won the league this year and also the Senior Cup, beating the Baldwin in both instances.
Bill Davenport won the Division 1 averages, as well as the Champion of Champions and along with Simon West were Finalists in the Doubles Competition.
All in all, a great season for the 'A' team and should be in highlights on this web-site.
Website has not changed - Apart from Blogs and forums - the only person that can add new info to site is the web owner (currently me!). But I can only do this when I am notified of any news. I am happy to add any relevant detail ASAP. Your news will hopefully be added later this evening.
It's that time of the year again and the Saturday morning indoor bowls is about to begin at the Solihull arena.
Whilst we have men,we have a shortage of ladies,so if any club ladies would like to have a go at indoor, now's your chance.
First practice Saturday 10th November at 10.00am - 12.00noon.
If anyone is interested ring me on 01564 826611.
